One-Off Super Cars

NISSAN R390 GR1
The Nissan R390 GT1 was a mid-engined racing car built in Atsugi, Japan. It was designed primarily for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1997 and 1998. It was built to race under the grand tourer style rules, requiring a homologated road version to be built. Therefore, the R390 was built originally as production road car, then a racing version of the car was developed after. Only two R390 road cars were ever built.
LEBLANC CAROLINE
Leblanc is a Zürich based Swiss car manufacturer. It makes modified high-performance automobiles in very low quantities. The Caroline with its girls name and weird looks brings doubt about is capabilities, but when you find out it has a top speed of 348 kp/h and sprints from 0-100 kph in 2.6 secs with a twin turbo 4 cylinder engine, it makes you forget both these aberrations. The Leblanc Caroline was introduced in 1999 and is a closed LeMans-type street legal racing car with 512 bhp (382 kW), from a twin-turbo 2000 cc engine.
LEBLANC MIRABEAU
The Leblanc Mirabeau (the same silly girls name and the weird shape as the Caroline) is an open street legal race car with an rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, designed to the specifications of the FIA/Le Mans standards. The engine outputs approximately 700 horsepower (520 kW) and 850 N·m (630 ft lbf) from a 4700 cc supercharged engine. The Mirabeau has a top speed of 370 km/h and a price tag of $650,000.
MEGA MONTE CARLO
In 1989, Fulvio Maria Ballabio designed a carbon fiber monocoque sports car under the newly established brand MCA (Monte Carlo Automobile). The car was developed in 5 years. In March 1990, Guglielmo Bellasi traveled to Bologna to sign a contract for Lamborghini to supply its V12. Unfortunately for MCA, the global financial environment meant a lower demand than expected for this type of car; only 5 were built between 1990 and 1992.
CARBONTECH REDBACK SPYDER
The Carbontech Redback Spyder is a Super Car from the Australian company Carbontech Replicas. The Chassis is made of semi-monocoque space frame and bolted on is a curvaceous body formed from carbon kevlar with a heat proof foam core. The core desing comprises of ram air induction scoop over the windscreen, a rear wing with integral rear brake light and front and rear ground effects tray. The Redback Spyder is powered by a Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine mated to a 6 speed Getrag transaxle. Power output for the V8 is 450 bhp and up, with 550 N/M of torque availabel from 1500 - 6300 rpm. Inside the Carbontech Redback Spyder is an advanced instument cluster, fully adjustable steering wheel, leather, aluminium or carbon fiber upholstery and a custom sound system with DVD player.
BROKERNET SILVER STING
The mind behind the Brokernet Silver Sting project is Hungarian Kalman Bodis and his Bovi Motorsport team, which since the early 90's has been involved in GT racing using Porsche 911 models. After several failed attempts the car took Bodis seven years to build. It is named after its main sponsors the Brokernet Group. The running gear is from the 911 GT3, the Silver Sting is powered by a 3.6 liter Porsche GT3 boxer engine with an output of 437 hp and a maximum torque of 437 Nm. With a curb weight of just 1,100 kg the car will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The weight is almost evenly distributed with 47 percent in the front and 53 percent at the rear axle which makes the car agile like the Porsche. The Silver Sting has obliquely upward-opening gullwing doors that reveal access to the roll cage proven interior. The Brokernet Silver Sting is definitely a sleek and desirable Super Car.
W3 TRIPOSTO
This weird looking sports car is the W3 Triposto and it's the work of Canadian engineer Clyde Kwok and his son Hugh Kwok, a race car driver. Their company, Wingho Auto, builds the W3 Triposto using a Porsche 911 as a donor car. Clyde and Hugh prefer early 1990's 911's modifying the 3.6-liter boxer engine to produce 300HP, but the Canadian duo can work with more modern 911's as well. According to the company, the three-seater, the driver sits in the center, can achieve a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (187 mph).(Via CarScoops)
SPIESS TC 522
Spiess is a German company known for manufacturing industrial electrical transformers. But in the booming late 80's and early 90's when Super Cars or Exotics were the norm for the Super rich to showoff their wealth, many new aspiring businessmen wanted to create exclusive automobiles for such elite clientèle. The Spiess TC522 was on such motorcar, the prototype ticked all the Super Car boxes which was mid engined powered by a 5.7 liter V8 with twin turbo units to boost additional power to take the car to a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h), 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds, a massive 500 hp output with 6 gears and plenty of carbon fiber bodywork. Only a single prototype was built in 1992 but its fate, along with many other such Super Cars, collapsed due to the recession and its huge price tag. It does have some cool lines though a proper meld between the wedge elements of the 80's and the more somber looks of the 90's. In fact it wouldn't look out of place at a car show today!
STRATHCARRON SC-5A
Strathcarron Sports Cars plc was a British car manufacturer founded by Ian Macpherson in business from 1998 until 2001. Strathcarron produced two models while in business between 1999 and 2002, the Strathcarron SC-5A, and the Strathcarron SC-6, which in essence was the same as the SC-5A, only with ABS plastic bodywork in place of the more expensive kevlar and carbon fiber. The goal for the company was to build simple and lightweight cars powered by motorcycle engines. The cars were designed by Reynard and used Triumph motorcycle engines and were minimalist in terms of options and amenities. An attempt was made to use the Rover K-Series motor, but financial hardship forced the company to shut down before a working prototype could be completed and road tested.
ASL GARAIYA
There is not much known about the company or the car, only that the Garaiya is a small Super Car based on the Tommykaira ZZ, with around 180 hp using the Nissan Primera's SR20VE engine and weighing approximately 900 kg. Customers would take part in the final development of their car's suspension to tailor it to their preferences or driving style.
