American car manufacturers are dinkies when compared to their European counterparts. Europeans have dominated the everyday common car and Super Car production with a flair for style and refinement, even Asian giants like the Japanese, Koreans, and the Indians have borrowed design elements from their marques. The Chinese have always knocked-off countless European designs often with hilarious results. But the Americans who do not like to play second-fiddle wanted to catch up, however, it was not the biggies who have managed to turn the apple cart on the Europeans but a small player called John Hennessey who with his Venom GT toppled the Bugatti Veyron from its lofty pedestal as the fastest production car, the latest run was in February 2014.
And now the fight back is even fierce, the Texan manufacturer is putting more pressure on the Bugatti team since it has revealed a brutish street legal speed contender called the Hennessey Venom F5 which is believed to be capable of 292 mph (470 km/h)! Phew!. It is heavily evolved from the awesome king of super cars Venom GT. The F5 name is derived from the Fujita scale of wind strength for tornadoes which incidentally also shares the F5 name with the famous Fighter Jet by Northrop . The body like the GT is pure Carbon Fiber and expected to weigh under 1,300 kg. The new design has improved coefficient drag which is less than 0.40 especially crucial when the car aims to reach way beyond the 250 mph mark.
The heart of the car hasn't got a transplant though, it retains the same 7.0 liter twin turbo V8, but the company is stretching the engine's capabilities to the very limit and the mill is assumed to generate 1,400 hp of pure power. It will drive the rear wheels through a new, single-clutch, six-speed paddle-shift transmission; a conventional Ricardo H-gate setup will also be available. A GPS based stability and traction control program will enable the car to see ahead and automatically adjust the suspension for the next change in direction or surface conditions.
The Venom F5 is planned to be unveiled in 2015 with deliveries to start in late 2016.
This is the definitive Super Car that the world is waiting for.
