Aeromaster LMP Sports Car

I am including the Aeromaster here primarily because it is a near replica of the celebrated Bentley Speed 8 Prototype race car, and I thought this car should pass muster. Aeromaster, is a car company based in Sofia, Bulgaria, their new car is called the Aeromaster LMP. And while the Aeromaster LMP clearly won’t have anywhere near the performance of the Bentley, it is a fairly accurate replica from the outside. At the very least it should get you some attention on a track day!

The Aeromaster LMP features a steel space frame chassis and fiberglass body. Aeromaster say the body panels are all designed to quickly and easily bolt on to the chassis. The body itself was designed using CAD software and is 80 percent accurate to the Bentley. Modifications were made to make it easier to build and maintain. The molds for the bodywork were made using large-scale CNC milling machines for millimeter perfect tolerances.

Sadly the drive train of the Aeromaster LMP isn't quite as impressive as that used in the Bentley Speed 8 – which was fitted with an Audi-sourced 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8. The standard Aeromaster LMP is designed to accept the PRV (Peugeot, Renault, Volvo) V6 engine – strangely the same engine used in the DMC-Delorean. This unit produces a rather anemic 136 horsepower and is mated to a 5-speed Renault manual gearbox. Hopefully Aeromaster will figure out a way to get some more exciting drive train choices on offer, and soon, as that’s a fairly monumental let down for what is otherwise quite a beastly looking car.

There are some improvements that are planned as per the manufacturer, but are still not included in the test prototype by the team who assembled the body and chassis. Fortunately, some of these are currently under development and may be considered later:

  • Sheet metal as Reinforcement for the chassis tubes
  • Air Duct Grille in the rear bumper area
  • New Tail Lights
  • Proper Rear Spoiler
  • Rear Diffuser
  • Vertical "wings" behind the front wheels
  • Interior Composite Panels
  • New Dashboard
  • X-brace Reinforcement above the engine and transmission section
  • Improved body panel adjustments
  • Optional Windscreen Wiper
  • Hinged Engine Cover  (Text Adapted From: Aeromaster)
