Spyker C8 Aileron Super Car

SPYKER C8 AILERON

Sleek, Luxurious and Spacious the all-new, long wheelbase Spyker C8 Aileron continues heritage of performance, craftsmanship and exclusivity. The Spyker C8 Aileron marks the next step in Spyker Cars' evolution. Inspired by the company's aviation heritage, Spyker's second-generation sports car features cues from second-generation aircraft propulsion, highlighting the turbine blade, rather than the propeller which adorned many elements of Spyker's first generation cars. With sleek aerodynamics, a long GT-wheelbase, luxurious and spacious cabin and world-class six-speed automatic transmission, the new C8 Aileron has broad end the appeal of the Spyker brand while maintaining the marque’s exclusivity.

POWER TRAIN & KEY FEATURES

The Audi V8 4.2 litre engine delivers 480Nm (354lb/ft) at 3,500rpm for truly exhilarating power delivery. This ensures high torque at low revs for a high, yet progressive, power delivery. The Spyker C8 Aileron's power comes from a naturally aspirated Audi 4.2 litre V8 petrol engine. Astonishing torque, blistering power, efficient aerodynamics, and an excellent power-to-weight ratio all result in sensational acceleration (0-to-100 in 4.5 seconds) and a top speed of 300 kph.

The newly developed fully independent double-wishbone suspension and reduction in driver assistance (ABS and EBD only) ensure that driver responses are rewarded. The floor-mounted vertical pedal box participates in making a Spyker a true driver’s car. As the driver’s foot has less distance to travel with the upright brake and accelerator pedals, there is a more immediate and positive response. The core of the Spyker C8 Aileron is provided by its aluminium space frame chassis. Weighing 230 kg, this gives the car a rigidity of 22,000 Nm/degree ensuring the suspension and handling are not compromised due to ‘body flex’. The C8 Aileron’s suspension has been designed and developed in partnership with Lotus. The fully independent and adjustable double wishbone suspension is made from forged aluminium to reduce vehicle weight. he core of the Spyker C8 Aileron is provided by its aluminium space frame chassis weighing just 230 kg. The C8 Aileron’s power to weight ratio ensures that it is the driver’s responses that are rewarded. The six-speed automatic gearbox enhances the relaxed driving experience by providing a seamless, yet instant, progression through the gears. Spyker’s trademark exposed gear change mechanism was inspired by early aircraft controls present in Spyker’s aviation heritage and provides a sense of occasion and craftsmanship proving that aesthetic and function need not be separated.

INTERIOR

Full-leather interior by Dutch Royal Tanneries Hulshof. Brushed aluminium dashboard. Turned aluminium dashboard and Chronoswiss dials are optional. Air conditioning. Driver and passenger air bags with passenger airbag deactivation switch. The Spyker C8 Aileron is equipped as standard with a Kharma sound system, incorporating a digital radio, Bluetooth interface, an iPod connectivity and a navigation system. The Kharma sound system offers joystick controls on the central console and a dashboard display, paired to 6 Kharma loudspeakers. (Text: Adapted from Spyker)
