The Ledl AS Series was a 2-door 2-seater coupé mid-engined Super Car made by the Austrian company Ledl Ges MBH from 1981 to 1987. The abbreviation AS in the model designation stands for Austrian Sports Car .The vehicle was developed following extensive testing and was introduced at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 1981. Though this was not strictly a kit car, several parts from other manufacturers were also used. In all 249 cars were made until 1987 when production was discontinued, strangely due to the laws in Austria as registering them became very difficult. In fact only 17 were sold to domestic customers, other units were shipped to the Germany, France, US, New Zealand, Japan and even Ukraine.
The two-seater sports car body was made from Glass Reinforced Plastics, the pop-up headlights came from a Porsche 928 , the rear lights from Ford Granada and the handbrakes from the Renault R8. But several other Austrian companies also supplied components.
